I'd rather go naked than wear fur!
Heya
Ok so I've been trying to postpone this discussion as it's a bit of a hard core one.
When we were in the cave man days we obviously needed to keep warm and in order to do that we needed Fur as one of our winter woolies, however people have forgotten that now in this day in age we have so many other resources and that wearing fur is just a status symble now. We don't have to wear fur to keep warm any more and in all fairness, we are not killing the animals ourselves we leaving other people to do it for us.
Now the Chinese are big on fur, in fact they produce a huge amount for the fur industry. They also mass produce it. Now you may think that they are taking fluffy wild animals and skinning them, but the truth is that they take rabbits, foxes, raccoons etc..even dogs, stax of dogs!.
Some of them just like your pooch at home :
The concerning part is THEY DO IT WHILE THEY ARE STILL ALIVE!...so they peel of there skin while they still kicking to get free...imaging your skin being cut and peeled of you! They die once there skins off cause they cant take the pain, it's very sick...
Don't believe me? Watch this video: http://features.peta.org/ChineseFurFarms/index.asp
And be brave and look at these pic's..what they are doing is real! It's very very true!
This is some dogs waiting to be skinned.
But they don't stand a chance!
After they have their skin...if they are still alive they kill them, maybe by standing on your head or by picking them up and banging their heads against the floor.Any way they want because there is no law stopping them!
And there is a cool thing by PETA...the campaign is called : I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur!
Here's some of their campaign pics of celeb's supporting the cause!
Every one is trying...Think of what you can do!
Here's a weird question...Would you take off your clothes for this cause?
If you don't think so look at the pictures at the top...how could you not?
Well that's my Friday morning post.
Have a fab day
Sending a huge amount of happiness your way.

Catch up and Get up!
Well i decided to follow up all the bits of things i said I'd let you know from my other posts...So if you haven't read my other posts, not only have you already missed out but now you'll be totally lost, you know how you can miss a soap opera for a couple of weeks and then switch it on once and you can totally catch up and feel like you didn't miss a thing...yup well its not like that, you actually have to read the other posts! And why the hell not? Your on this blog to be aware of stuff aren't you?
Right lets play 'don't loose your memory' game...
At a point animal rights Africa was found by little old me and i said that i gave them a call to ask if i could get active and play a part and help in there activism...well this is me not being surprised...they didn't call back! I left 2 messages and not one single bladdy call from them!
Why on earth would you not want volunteers? They come with passion and time and no payment? So if they don't want to get back to me....well then I'll just start my own activist group! Stinky people! I know it's damn hard but I'm sure somewhere along the line someone will stand by me and join in and then we can be WAY MORE PASSIONATE then poopy animal rights Africa!
So bring it on :)
*Lady's only *......remember i told you about the toxic tampons and pads? Well initially i found them at http://www.faithful-to-nature.com/ but when i went shopping for butter at Greenlands in Parkhurst, they had them there! Yup so they have them there...i think the non applicator tampons for a box of 10 was R35...i think, i could be mistaken. This is the place:
9 4th Ave
Parkhurst
Mon – Frid 8.30 – 17.30
Sat 9.00 – 14.00
www.greenlandswholefoods.co.za
T: 011 880 9044
And this is what you are looking for:
Check this sign out on your telephone book :)
Now with in this 'Be Green' thing i was hassling my complex into recycling...well I'm still hassling, in fact I'm now threatening that if they don't hurry up and change it soon, I'm going to start going around to each persons apartment and making them sign a petition...i don't quite think people understand me...ill let you guys in on it...I NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP.....NEVER! I'm like a bulldog...when i bite, the only way to get me off is to stick your finger up my butt! Hehe
I eventually got Alicia's book! I must say I'm quite surprised at the postal service this time round. Usually my letters and stuff get to me late and sometimes not at all. So i don't really trust them....it's not very nice of me i know but hey you got to be a little weary.
The book is great...I'm going to buy the ingredients for the cupcakes this weekend and if i have time I'll definatly bake them, you know how much i love to bake!
Talking about Baking...remember i found that recipe for Vegan butter...well i did better than that! I FOUND BUTTER!!! WOOHOO, that's a huge relief for a baker! Turns out there are stax of Vegan butters out there and better yet they are available in Joburg...we bought Ghee and once we're done we going on a butter tasting route through Vegan butter land!
OMG!!So i just went to go and check out how to spell Ghee and it came up as MILK PRODUCT....so I'm going to have to go back and exchange it, arg! You see this is why i am here...i can make the mistakes for you!
You know, buying organic anti-cruelty vegan products is a nightmare, so these hiccups happen once and awhile. Like Mrs Balls Chutney - No egg, no meat, no dairy, so perfect right? NOPE...it's made by Unilever ( one of the company's that test on animals ) I mean Really! Can't a activist get a break?
Update : the Vegan society that was going to give me that video 'Behind the Mask' well they've given me the address to go and pic it up...it's only i copy but i don't mind! So finally I'm going to get to watch it this Saturday. YAY...things are really working out.
Oh damn before i go i must tell you about this tofu i had..mmmmm....ok so i lived in china for a year in 2007 when i was there i saw horrific things when it came to animals...and when i say horrific i really mean horrific!
In grocery stores..like supermarkets you'd get this:

and when you order a piece of chicken you also get this with the meal naturally positioned as if it were a real chicken sitting on your plate:
Yup that's the daily life there.
So when i was there i was a vegetarian ( thank god ) and i decided to try out some Tofu...it stinks when they cook it on the streets and when i tried it, YUK was my first expression once i had had a bite.
Then came my handsome boy who cut some plain Tofu very finely in slices (that's the trick ) and then spiced them up with whatever spices we had...mmmm...it was SO DEVINE, i could just eat it like that as a snack. It did need a dip but I'll work on that...so simple it's made me decide that:
Any who froggie's and froglets...I've gotta go...works nearly over and I'm going out tonight ( very rare but true!)
So i have to love and leave you....
Night Night

P.S I have a e-mail for those who would like to contact me outside the blog its:
Vegan take outs!
YAY!!! So i finally found a place you can get Vegan take outs! Phew!
You see meat eating and vegetarian people go to Steers or Nando's etc for take out. But for a Vegan to grab take out in Johannesburg its kinda hard. Especially for me since I'm going quite organic.
So after my search i found a place that kinda does take out...don't get me wrong it is take out but the way you order and get it, is a little different.
So round about every Thursday Jozi Un-Cooked put up a main meal and dessert on their blog http://joziuncooked.wordpress.com/ that is being served that Monday, if you are interested in grabbing take out on Monday all you do is place an order with them, which is just a simple email to joziuncooked@gmail.com and then they send you payment instructions and Voila your food is ready on that Monday to be picked up. Now whats cool is that they have two places you can pick it up...either (The Observatory) between 12pm-2pm or in ( Melville ) between 5pm-7pm :)
This Yummy Desert is only R20 !
I haven't tried it yet but when i do I'll let u know...hey and if you guys try it or go to any of the places i suggest, let me know...I'm sure everyone will benefit from it.
_____________________________________________________________________________
On another note : I'VE CREATED A FACEBOOK GROUP!!!
It's also called Spread The Word and it falls under 'beliefs and causes'...go check it out, it's mainly there so that people know about the blog and to also get the word out another way...I'm trying my best !
Hopefully you have all seen my newly designed logo, it's gonna be everywhere:

Key words tell the story...
Heya
So i went on Proctor & Gamble's website to see if they have a laboritory in South Africa or if they just import the goods...it doesn't say but i totally expected that! So i decided to phone and ask. I got through to a lady - i asked if they import their good or create them, themselves. Her response was " Unfortunatley i am not allowed to hand out that information and you would have to speak to Louis about this but he is currentley in a meeting".........ARG!.........
Why is it such a big secret as to whether they import the products or not? It's a simple yes or no. She sounded so rude when i asked and was all fumbled in her words ' um, well..i'm not allowed to..."
Sorry well thats not good enough...i'm definatley going to phone again, i would like to know! If they are producing them here, then there could be a possibility that they test on animals here in this country, i mean OLAY formula was first produced by a South African ( Graham Wulff ) to be precise. It's bad enough that our country supports this brand let alone create's it here!
Feel free to call them on : 011 700 5000
I went onto the website as i said and on it i found all these charitys and programs that P & G work on...N.B Non of them were for animals. So i decided to see if they were really helping for the sake of charity or just for advertising and customer attraction. I found this little mission statement for one of there human charity's...Learn, Live and Thrive: Do me a favour and look a little closer beyond the gift wrapping and think of the animals that they don't mention:
"For more than 170 years, P&G brands and people have touched and improved consumers’ lives. This commitment extends to our social investments. Our people and our brands are our greatest assets, and together, they are a tremendous force that can make an impact that matters.
Through P&G’s Live, Learn and Thrive cause, we are helping children in need around the world get off to a healthy start, receive access to education and build skills for life."
DOES ANY OF THIS SOUND LIKE THEY CARE ABOUT ANIMALS???
And probably no one notices that they only fund and support humans, but at what extent? Animals have to suffer extreme conditions so that children can be helped. Why would you care so much about a community and those in need when you are sacrificing lives to do that. Isn't that being a bit twisted?
It's not like these animals are dying short deaths, they are suffering in excruciating pain for a long time and for what? To create a impact that matters? Of course but an impact that matters to WHO?
Did you know that some of these companys get there animals from the pound in the US...think about it like this...Mimi your cute little poodle that you've had since you were five has now got to be seperated from you because your moving into an apartment and they don't allow dogs. So you sadly go to the pound and hope that she will find a loving home...but no one chooses Mimi! So she's sent to the last resort, she is sent to be put down...but wait! Some companies pay the pound good cash for the animals that are going to be put down...and they take them....and this is what they do:
See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil.....no just pure EVIL
I had a hamster when i was young and i'm quite sure lots of you had aswell. No one would allow their pet to go through this.Would they?
They don't volunteer to do this.
So here's some pictorial proof if you don't believe me, or you can check out some of this stuff live on:
http://features.peta.org/Testing123/index.asp
I'm not here to freak you out, i'm here to show and tell you the truth!
Check out what companies do this...i've blogged this before so look.
Kind Regards

Just say it!
OPINION : I'd rather see animals up close in their natural habitat.
I dunno if it's an African thing but I'd rather go to the bush to see a giraffe than at the zoo. Zoo's are stinky and they aren't very scenic.
Ok so why start my new post with a opinion, easy , a day ago i saw on the PETA website a story about an Orca (Killer whale) and her unborn calf that died...how? Simply by giving birth (as if we are in ancient days, with out any form of technology)
My anger:
The down low is that Orca's (Killer whales) mate for life.
So if your placing some horny whale in a small tank with a female that doesn't know if she likes the bloke and should consider it since they are stuck together for life, the chances are that she says yes is very low, so isn't that rape? Also this male orca has not only fathered one orca baby, hell no, he's some male prostitute!!! So think about it logically if Orca's mate for life in the wild and you are setting up some orca brothel in a tank aren't you defying the laws of nature? Isn't that unnatural?
Now not only are they monogamists they also are very bright, of course since the family they come from is the dolphin. So Sea world developed this whole routine where trainers jump around in this tank with these Killer whales and do tricks with them...IN THE WATER.
I was totally perturbed by this news of the mom and calf. But today at work Larry King Live came on with this huge debate on how this trainer was killed by the same horny male orca. Apparently it dragged her by her ponytail and that he kept on flinging himself on her in the water. But there was NO mention about the mom and calf...typical a human dies and it's on Larry King Live but a Orca mother and her calf don't even reach a quarter of the public.
As per usual I've provided reliable sources ( for those of you who are sceptical)
If you want you can see the whole thing on camera, here's the link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcReDJelSBA
and here's the article:
http://edition.cnn.com/2010/US/02/24/killer.whale.trainer.death/index.html
You know it just makes me sick to think that people are OK with putting animals in cages and tanks and watching them live there lives like that...remember my 'What if " concept. Yup well if you have to 'What if" this situation you'd be thinking back to the day of the Nazi's.Pure evil.
So why the opinion...because everyone should be allowed to voice there's anytime, anywhere.
Voice yours!

Market without the Flea's
Hi all
I'm SOOOO sorry...ok so let me let you in on the M.I.A on spread the word.
Firstly i went home to take that picture that i wanted to do with the elephant pages for the circus issue on PETA. Remember that? Check my last post if you don't.
So low and behold my camera has gone missing, i searched the whole place and no camera was found :(
It's my special diamante one. Damn i hate it when that happens, but i still have hope that somehow it will find it's way home. So the circus picture has been put on hold until i find my camera.Although it doesn't mean that i still wont be protesting against it!
Ok so whats the vegan update this week? Let me give you the info...
I went shopping to fill up my grocery cupboards this weekend, and i decided that organic is the only way to go, but the only problem is that it is so expensive, and for people of my age cash is minimal, but i was still determind to get organic...Why organic...well let me give you the down low...normal carrots have pesticides on them to get rid of the bugs and it not only protects the carrot but it also seaps into the soil which the carrot sucks up and the fact is ...PESTICIDES ARE IN THE CARROTS AND OTHER VEGATABLES WE EAT!!! YUK!...so i decided i don't want some funky stuff in my body and that i don't want to support people that don't give us natural, healthy stuff!
I mean look at the naartjies that we get...they are so sweet and the skin around them are sometimes really hard to peel off, also that white stuff thats on the naartjie is also hard plus they all look perfect, oh and big ups for the seedless ones too, but the real fact is that inorder to get them like that they have to genetically modify them, i just don't think that seedless naartjie are the way to go when my body is digesting modification!
I had no clue about the difference that i saw this weekend, it's freaking crazy.
So in my determined search i found stores that stock the goodies i need...i'm going to give them to you so you don't have to search your butt of like i had to ...

Now i went to them and they have Vegan bread, although i never tried it. I bought Ghee ( i think thats how you sell it ) butter...i haven't tried it as yet but it's in my fridge waiting for me. They also have frozen Veagn meals which is great for a quick take away. There's vitamins, sweets, beans, syrup and a whole lot of other stuff. I even bought Tofu from there, once again i still haven't tried it yet.

They are AWESOME...i bought raw organic chocolate truffles from them which haven't even been cooked!! Weird, they were a little expensive R56 but i thought i would spoil myself. They were really yummy.
You should see the fruit and vegetables, they are so fresah they even have sand on them! I bought spring onions, a big bunch of carrots ( which were very sweet ) and a cabbage plus a big bunch of sweet potatoes for R45 !!! and they are all organic...so woolworths really just rips you off.
I saw this place that sells home made pasta and for a big packet it's only R20...i asked if the lady did Vegan pasta and she said that she can make it...so i placed an order an i'm going to pick it up on this coming Saturday...Yay i hope it's nice!
Oh and my FAVOURITE eek....they have hemp shoes! For R180 you can get organic hemp shoes, cool huh, this lady imports them from France, they are pretty fashionable there in the countryside...they are so cute, and good for the enviroment...Yay to hemp shoes!
So these were the places i found, i hope it helps.
N.B. THE ORGANIC SHOW IS ON THIS SATURDAY IN THE COCA COLA DOME IN NORTHGATE, THE ENTRANCE IS R50 PER PERSON. THEY GOING TO HAVE ALOT OF VEGAN STUFF TOO PLUS THEY WILL HAVE THEM AT SHOW PRICES. SUPER SAVE, YAY!
Great News the Vegan Society contacted me as i have been looking for a copy of the documentory called behind the mask, apparentley it's about animal abuse - i'm really interested in seeing it so i'm glad that they got hold of me. Like i said i want to be informed so that i can inform.
Gotta dash...i might post you guys some info later, depends how busy i am.
